The ethics initiative program offered in the College of Business Administration is one that needs to be introduced to other colleges across the nation — especially when the corporate scandals of Martha Stewart and Enron are the headlines of every news media outlet.
The program, introduced to K-State by Diane Swanson, associate professor of management, raises awareness about the social responsibility corporations have at both the local and national level.
Students enrolled in the classes offered under the ethics initiative will only benefit upon their entrance into the work world. The classes will teach them the importance of the business ethics that are lacking in corporate society.
Most importantly, more classes and initiative programs such as this one should be offered in not only other colleges at K-State, but at other universities nationwide.
With more ethics initiative programs, more headlines could be aimed at the successes of such business leaders instead of the corporate scandals that we now face.
