Mission
of the Department of Management
In the context of
the larger mission of the College of Business Administration, the Department
of Management will strive to:
- Be the leader in
Management education in the midwest, enabling our students to lead and
add value to future employers and society,
- Generate high quality
research and scholarship that informs our global academic communities
and advances knowledge in our respective disciplines,
- Develop and maintain
a presence in the application of knowledge for management practitioners,
particularly in the Midwest, and
- Maintain a presence
in our professional organizations and local communities through active
participation in professional service.
Vision
of the Department of Management
Our vision is to create
and nourish an academic community in which faculty and students continuously
expand their capabilities to make valuable and meaningful returns on the
trust that society invests in us. These capabilities are centered on the
disciplines that comprise the Management Department and include expertise
in human resources management, operations management, and information
systems. Our capabilities also focus on the larger, international, strategic
and ethical, management of organizations for the mutual benefit of their
owners, employees and larger society. As academics, our return on societys
investment centers primarily on the education of students and the development
of new knowledge. We also serve society by sharing our expertise to assist
organizations and institutions in becoming more effective and responsive
to the competitive forces and societal demands.
