Family and Community Public Policy Scholarship

MISSION
The Marjorie J. and Richard L. D. Morse Family and Community Public Policy Scholarship provides funds for a student scholar to work on a project that impacts public policy and involves community service.

AWARD
A $3,000 scholarship for summer 2003 is available to any enrolled Kansas State University student. The scholarship is given over a course of 10 weeks.

GUIDELINES
  • The project should include an internship opportunity with a public agency appropriate for the project submitted, secured by the student or the faculty mentor. The internship must be available prior to submitting an application.
  • The project should utilize the Consumer Movement Archives in the Richard L. D. & Marjorie J. Morse Department of Special Collections of KSU Libraries'.
  • The recipient must prepare a final report that provides an overview of the project goal, experience, and outcomes of the scholar program. A copy of the document will be provided to the KSU Libraries.

    HOW TO APPLY
    Each recipient must submit:

  • A resume and letter of application explaining the student's intended career path, why the student is interested in the development of public policy, as well as what experience they hope to gain.
  • A project outline that includes a goal statement and a detailed plan for meeting the goal.
  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty mentor with expertise and a shared interest in supporting the project.
  • A letter of invitation from the internship sponsor identified in the application.

    Applications will be accepted until May 15.
