Since the spring 2004 semester the CBA Student Services office staff has undergone several changes. We have added administrative professionals and streamlined many processes in order to better and more quickly serve students. We hope that you will notice and be pleased with these improvements.
We wish to thank the students that participated in our advising surveys in May and December 2004. Your comments are appreciated and were highly valuable in enhancing the quality of student services.
Some of our improvements are now posted on the K-State Online Advising site which all CBA students should have available. These improvements include an Advising Syllabus with career planning, calendar of important dates, curriculum flow charts for each major, and campus resources. |

Study Abroad |
Study Abroad News |
The College of Business Administration (CBA) is experiencing a growth in study abroad participants. During 2004 close to 100 business students like YOU studied abroad! Many more are enjoying the journey of their lifetime studying abroad this spring!
The most popular destinations for business students are Spain, Australia, Italy and the Czech Republic but students have also studied in Japan, Denmark and Costa Rica.
More Scholarships are now available: The CBA has just received a grant from the US Department of Labor that will provide for more scholarships for students that study abroad! Scholarship applications and more information are available at the front desk in 107 Calvin Hall. Check it out!
A Certificate in International Business (CIB) was implemented in the fall of 2001. The CIB program seeks to train students in global business through 1) exposure to dominant theory and practice related to international business by taking courses in business and economics, 2) an enhanced capability in a specific language and regional culture gained via taking foreign language courses as well as courses in geography, and 3) an in-depth hands-on experience in international business attained through a required study or work abroad experience.
Close to 70 students have officially declared the CIB. This number is up from 21 in 2003. Last year a total of 13 students graduated with the CIB and many of these students started their careers working for global companies. Stop by 107 Calvin Hall to pick up a CIB flyer or ask your business advisor how you can complete the CIB and still graduate on time!
The CBA is also pleased to announce a new student group, the Study Abroad Advocates (SAA). This group consists of about 20 students with international experiences from 9 different countries. SAA’s primary roles are to promote study and work abroad opportunities to business students and to serve as mentors for international students in the CBA. For more informaion about SAA check out our site on the CBA website.
Several of our faculty members teach abroad each year. Dr. Tavakkol, Associate Professor in Finance and Dr. Janda, Associate Professor in Marketing led a group tour to London over spring break last year in which 19 students participated. The experience involved visits to several global companies such as Lloyds of London and Dow Jones, financial markets such as the London Stock Exchange and the London Metal Exchange as well as the Bank of England. Students also independently visited historical sites and other places of interest in England.
We are excited about these positive developments in the area of study abroad! If you would like to to learn more about how a study abroad experience can fit into YOUR academic program, please visit your business advisor today! |

Distance Education |
The K-State College of Business Administration (CBA) has a unique degree completion program for students studying business through distance learning. The degree track of General Business (GENBA) is AACSB accredited within the K-State CBA as are all degrees in the CBA. Students must have completed 45 credit hours and have at least a 2.3 GPA to be admitted into this program. A large number of students are taking classes through this degree completion program and we expect this number to increase. Please contact Ron Jackson at rdj7@ksu.edu if you desire further information about this degree program. |
