K-State’s 79th annual Family Day was held on Saturday, Sep. 22, 2007.  Approximately 140 parents, students, faculty and staff attended the breakfast and social held in the Koch Student lounge on the third floor of Calvin Hall. Business Ambassadors, Business Council members, faculty and student services staff greeted parents and students. Dr. Ike Ehie, associate dean, gave a brief presentation on the happenings within the CBA.

2007 Family Day

The Corporate Associate Program (CAP) is the business advisory council for student services in the CBA. The 2007 annual meeting was held on Monday, Sep. 17, 2007. CAP members present included representatives from Cerner, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Koch Industries, Payless ShoeSource, and Homel.

The agenda for the annual meeting included a college update in which the five priority areas of the college were presented. These priority areas were developed as the driving force that would lead the college to national rankings. The CBA undergraduate curriculum was presented and ideas and suggestions were solicited from CAP members on possible enhancements and revisions.

Following the CBA Curriculum discussion, a panel of students was convened to have a dialogue with the CAP members. Issues raised included internships, international exposures, career opportunities, and networking. Finally, the CAP members had a panel discussion in the business orientation class with close to 350 undergraduate business students. The topics covered in the panel were varied and they included importance of communication skills, involvement in extra-curriculum activities and maintaining decent grades while in school.

This was a golden opportunity for CAP members to register their respective company brands in the minds of future business graduates of the college. The 2008 annual meeting will be held on Monday, Sep. 22, 2008.
