A COLLEGE FOR A CHANGING WORLD

Study Abroad

K-State has plenty of study abroad opportunities and there is a program that will fit any student’s pocketbook and curriculum requirements. You can go for a long as a whole year or as short as over your spring break. K-State business students are very adventurous so in addition to the more traditional sites for study abroad such as Europe and Australia, our students have studied in Japan, Taiwan, China, Mexico and South America. Almost 100 business students are studying abroad every year. There are also internships programs available.

  • NEWS: K-State is now offering two new minors: EAST ASIAN Studies and CHINESE. For more details, talk to your business advisor in the Student Student Services, 107 Calvin Hall.
  • The CBA also offers a Certificate in International Business that you can declare already as a freshman. For more details, consult the CBA webpage or talk to your business advisor.

What are some of the benefits of spending some time abroad? A study abroad experience will enable you to:

  • Gain international experience and multicultural competencies.
  • Experience personal growth and independence.
  • Learn or enhance your fluency in a foreign language and/or complete all classes for your major in English. Knowing a foreign language is not required! Meet students and people from all over the world – great for friendships and networking.
  • Do something that stands out on your resume and get an advantage over competition when you start looking for a job.
  • Get out of Kansas and have a lot of FUN!

How do I even get started? Don’t worry! It is easy!

  • Attend a study abroad information session offered several times a week by the Study Abroad office in 304 Fairchild Hall. Check out their website for the schedule: http://www.k-state.edu/oip No signing up needed – just show up. Following this session you will get your own individual appointment with a Study Abroad advisor.
  • Talk to your business advisor about classes and when to go.
  • Talk to the Business Study Abroad Advocates students about their experiences.

The Study Abroad office offers several SCHOLARSHIPS for study abroad. Study Abroad and Scholarship Application deadline for Spring 2007 is October 1st.
