A COLLEGE FOR A CHANGING WORLD

Certificate of International Business
College of Business Administration
Kansas State University

The Certificate in International Business appeals to students seeking adventure, growth, and international exposure that will not only enrich their college experience but also enhance their personal and professional development.  Required proficiency in a language other than their own will allow students who are studying abroad to academically and socially integrate with students from around the globe.  Students gain an understanding of locations, customs, and cultures through World Regional Geography.  An educational experience abroad will shape their life for years to come.

Rationale:

Globalization of business is a key focus in the training of business students today.  Since a large percentage of students attending Kansas State University’s College of Business Administration come from rural Kansas, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Kansas and students of Kansas State University to offer a program providing students with comprehensive, multidimensional training in global business.  The Certificate in International Business program seeks to train students in global business through: 1. exposure to dominant theory and application of international business gained in business and economics course work, 2. an enhanced capability in a specific language and regional culture gained in foreign language and geography courses, and 3. an in-depth hands-on experience in international business gained through a chosen exchange program or internship approved by Kansas State University.  It is important to provide training in global business operations in all three areas to ensure students are prepared to meet future challenges in the global marketplace.  It is also important to provide potential employers with evidence of the student’s training through a certificate so that Kansas students will be considered qualified for global opportunities.
