College
of Business Administration
“Wait List” Procedures
General
Procedures: these procedures apply ONLY to business
classes
- Choose the
Reference Number of the section you want and place your name on the
“Wait List” for that section, either at the Enrollment Center
or on KATS. The college departments do not place names on “Wait
Lists."
- Choose only one
“Wait List” for each course needed. Students on multiple
“Wait Lists” for the same course (but different sections
of this course) will be dropped from all but one (the one on which a
student has the shortest wait).
- If you have successfully
enrolled in a section of a class, you should not place your name on
a “Wait List” for another section. You might have to choose
during enrollment whether to take a space in a section that is open
or to place your name on the “Wait List” for another section,
with the possibility that you might not be able to enroll in the course
for the semester if you choose the latter option. If you have successfully
enrolled in a section and have placed your name on a “Wait List”
for another section, you will be dropped from the “Wait List.”
The following general
information applies only to Accounting, Finance and Management classes.
For department specific information, and for information on Marketing
classes, see back.
- Do not attend
class on the first day if you are not enrolled in a section and you
have not received permission to add the section. You will be asked to
leave if you do. (Note: Although seats might appear to be available
in a section, according to University policy non-attending enrolled
students cannot be dropped until the end of the first week of classes.)
Instructors cannot give you permission to add. All permissions-to-add
are issued in the Departmental main offices. The Departments begin working
the “Wait Lists” as soon as all sections are full.
- Students
will be notified by the respective department(s) via KSU e-mail prior
to the start of the semester or within the first week of classes if
they may move from “Wait List” to “Permission to Add”
status.
If you are on a “Wait List,” check your KSU e-mail regularly.
You should process your enrollment immediately upon receiving the e-mail.
You can access your KSU e-mail from an off campus location through Webmail
at: http://webmail.ksu.edu/.
Continue checking your e-mail over University holiday breaks. If any
new sections open, you will automatically be given an opportunity to
enroll in those sections based on your “Wait List” standing.
- Do not send
an instructor, an advisor, or the departments e-mail or call asking
to get into a class that is closed. You will be notified automatically
if a seat becomes available and you are next on the “Wait List.”
- The Departments
will issue permissions-to-add until the last day students may enroll
without instructor permission. That date is established by the University
and appears in the line schedule.

Specific Information:
Department of Accounting:

Department of Marketing:
- You need
to go to class on the first day and ask the instructor for permission
to add or contact the departmental secretary, Claudia, in person
in 201
Calvin, by phone (785-532-6008), or E-mail ()
to check the status of the class. You must be proactive!
The Department of Marketing does not reserve seats in any class. When
the semester begins, seats are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Department
of Finance:
- The Finance
department will work the “Wait Lists” as follows. Finance
majors and seniors who are graduating at the end of the current semester
will be assigned seats first. If additional seats become available,
those students who need the course to progress though their curriculum
will be assigned the seats next
- All students
who have been admitted to the class from the “Wait Lists”
will receive an e-mail with the expiration date for the permission.
If you fail to enroll by the expiration day, you will be moved to the
bottom of the “Wait List”, and another student will be assigned
the available seat. You should process your enrollment immediately
upon receiving the e-mail.
Department
of Management:
The following are
the “Wait List” procedures for all Department
of Management courses. Please read these procedures if you choose to
be on a “Wait List.”
- Choose the Reference
Number of the section you want and have your name placed on the “Wait
List”,
either at the Enrollment Center or on KATS.
a. Choose
only one “Wait List”. Students on more than one “Wait
List” will be dropped from all “Wait Lists”.
b. Do not enroll
in one section of the course, and put your name on the “Wait List” for another section. You may have to choose
during enrollment whether to take a space in a section that is open or
to get on the “Wait List” of another section, with the possibility
of not being able to enroll in the course for the semester if you choose
the latter option. If you are enrolled in one section and also on a “Wait
List” for a different section, you will be dropped from the “Wait
List”.
- Prior to the start
of the semester, students will be notified by the Management Department
via KSU E-mail if they may
move from a “Wait
List” to “Permission to Add” status. Please watch your
KSU email for permission notices. You can access your KSU e-mail from
an off campus location through Webmail at: http://webmail.ksu.edu/. Continue
checking your e-mail over University holiday breaks.
- Once
the semester has begun, you should continue to check with the Management
Department
to see if you can move from the “Wait List” to “Permission
to Add” status. You may check with the Management Department
in person (see Tammie), by phone (785-532-6296), or email (tsh@ksu.edu).
You must be proactive!
- If
you are on the “Wait List” for a class,
do not attend a class on the first day. The classes are full, and the
enrolled students
are entitled to seats in the class.
- Do not ask an instructor
or advisor for permission to get into a class that is full. Neither
instructors nor advisors can give you permission
to add the class. Permission to add courses can only be given through
the Management Department office.
- The Management
Department will issue permission to add courses up to the end of the
first week of classes.
